Yas Island launches store on Alibaba’s travel portal to drive Chinese visitors

Miral announcement comes a year after Dubai Tourism signed an agreement with Fliggy to boost the number of Chinese tourists to the city.

The partnership will allow Chinese travellers direct access to book their holidays and tickets to Yas Island’s theme parks and attractions.

Abu Dhabi developer Miral has launched Yas Island’s online flagship store in Mandarin on Alibaba’s travel service platform Fliggy in a bid to lure Chinese visitors to the leisure and entertainment destination.

The partnership will allow Chinese travellers direct access to book their holidays and tickets to Yas Island’s theme parks and attractions, which include the famous Ferrari World Abu Dhabi and Yas Marina Circuit, prior to their UAE visit.

Earlier this summer, Miral had rolled out Alibaba’s digital payment platform Alipay across the island, introduced a multi-lingual guest services teams and placed ‘welcome Chinese’ certified ambassadors within Yas Island’s theme parks.

“With the UAE and China working closely to increase and drive investment and tourism growth, this strategic agreement plays a pivotal role in this by driving visitation to Abu Dhabi’s premium leisure and entertainment destination, Yas Island,” said Nouf Al Boushelaibi, acting head of Destination Management Department at Miral.

“These partnerships allow us to reach our Chinese visitors directly through Yas Island’s digital presence on Fliggy and the use of their preferred payment options. We are delighted to be ensuring a more efficient and seamless holiday experience for all our Chinese visitors,” she added.

The announcement comes a year after Dubai’s Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (Dubai Tourism) signed an agreement with Fliggy to boost the number of Chinese tourists visiting Dubai through integrated 360-marketing campaigns.

The UAE is home to the largest Chinese visitor base in the Middle East, with Abu Dhabi having welcomed over one million Chinese tourists in 2018.
