Ras Al Khaimah aims for record-breaking New Year celebrations

Emirate says to wow crowds with pyro-drones and longest firework firewall record attempts on NYE.

Ras Al Khaimah is attempting to break two Guinness World Records with its New Year pyrotechnics show.

The emirate is trying to create history by using the most unmanned aerial vehicles that will launch fireworks simultaneously with 190 drones firing at the same time. The pyro-drones’ theme will recreate the key monuments of Ras Al Khaimah through laser displays and pyrotechnics as the display builds to its grand finale.

Organisers are also looking to produce the ‘longest firework firewall’ that will span a length of 4,000 metres (4km) – the current record is 3517.23m recorded in Fukuoka, Japan.

A spokesperson for the organising committee said: “While the Ras Al Khaimah New Year’s Eve Gala has set Guinness World Records in the past two years, this year, the innovative two record-bids are first-of-a-kind, assuring a magnificent display. We are lending the final touches to the preparation and are working closely with the adjudicators to ensure that the show will be unlike any before.”

Al Marjan Island, the flagship development of Marjan, the master-developer of Ras Al Khaimah, will feature several new viewing positions. There will also be viewing platforms from Al Hamra.
